Top Ten: Guitarists

Here are my top ten guitarists. Keep in mind they are not in any particular order. Also I chose these guitarists by the fact that their playing pulls me into the song, not just the vocals.

1:
Tom Morello

The guitarist from Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave, Street Sweeper Social Club and his solo project, The Nightwatchman. He is an awesome guitar player. I can’t believe some of the sounds he creates with his guitar. He is a wizard.

2:
Joe Perry

Aerosmith’s guitarist gave us riffs from songs like “Walk This Way” and “Rats In The Cellar.” He’s not afraid to play fast either.

3:
Jimi Hendrix

How could I not put the god himself, Jimi Hendrix? His playing alone is legendary. He wasn’t just a great vocalist.

4:
John Frusicante

Red Hot Chili Peppers was never the same without him, due to his drug addiction, but he sobered up and they made great music once again.

5:
Andrew Stockdale

You may not know who this guy is and what band he plays for. His band is Wolfmother and they are an AWESOME Australian band. List to these two songs and tell me they don’t rock, “Joker and The Thief”, and “New Moon Rising”.

6:
Billie Joe Armstrong

Green Day’s front man and guitarist, if you don’t know already. Songs like “Basket Case” and “Welcome To Paradise” are just some examples of his shredding capabilities.

7:
Angus Young

His playing on ACDC’s, “Back In Black” and “You Shook Me All Night Long,” got me into ACDC. Course lots of other songs followed as well.

8:
Robert Krieger

His playing with The Doors was great. “Roadhouse Blues” is one of my favorite songs.

9:
Lenny Kravitz

With Jimi Hendrix dead, the universe gave us, Lenny Kravitz. I find his playing some what similar to Hendrix’s playing, just listen to “Always On The Run.”

10:
Chuck Berry

One of the founding fathers of rock and roll music, Chuck Berry, “could play a guitar just like ringing a bell,” to quote Berry in “Johnny B. Goode.”
